“MiStars is a community choir like you’ve never seen before. Focused on fun, Mistars community choir does not have an age limit or audition its future members. As Maya Angelou once said, “A bird does not sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song.”

Thursdays: 5:30 – 6:30. Make Music Yours. £5 per person. Pay for the block of classes each half term. Age 10 – 11

A class designed for those who have just gone through Year 6 SATs and are looking forward to a new chapter at high school, however if it appeals to those in year 5 they are most welcome too. No musical knowledge is required, just a sense of fun, love of music and a desire to do something a bit different. In ‘Make Music Yours’ classes we will start by taking music from the charts and making it ours in our very own way, using boomwackers, percussion instruments, voice, children’s own instruments (if they play) and even some good old household objects! Very similar in style to an Australian band, called ‘Walk off the Earth’. Then to finish the 6 week course we will come together to write songs of our own.

A fantastic way for year 6s to celebrate finishing the SATs, and to make new friendships, and just feel good.

Saturdays: 10 – 10:45. Mini Songwriters. £4.50 per person. Pay for the block of classes each half term. Age 5 – 8

What a fun way to start writing your own music! At this age we concentrate on taking songs they already know and love and playing with the words, or arranging them in our own special way. Each session will also have lots of fun musical and vocal games to get to know what can be done with music and how we can change it and ‘make it our own!’

Saturdays: 10:45 – 11:30. Songwriters. £4.50 per child. Pay for the block of classes each half term. Age 9 – 12

Open to all ability and musical understanding. In this session children are welcome to bring any instruments they may already be learning to use in their song writing, but it is not essential. Often following a topic or theme, we play around with music and lyrics and work in groups or individually to produce songs of our own, looking at the structure, effects from different instruments and rhythms the lyrics can produce. Most of our songs will be recorded or performed and the children will be able to keep copies of what they have produced. Whether you have the next budding Ed Sheran or your child just enjoys making their own music, this will be a great feel good class to start the weekend.

Saturdays: 11:30 – 12:00. Mini Music Skills. £4 per child. Pay for the block of classes each half term. Age 3 – 5.

Using our wonderful rainbow instruments, simple percussion and lots of songs, children will learn about the basic skills of music. They will explore rhythm, tempo, dynamics and timbre in a fun way, often using puppets and story along the way. A class designed especially for the little ones to give them the foundations and understanding of all that underpins music, as well as a great way to meet others and make music together.

Tuesdays: 11:00 – 12:00. Relax-Sing. £5 per adult (children are not charged for). Pay for block of classes each half term. Adults with children aged 0 – 5, or Pre-natal
Music is a universal language that crosses cultural and social borders.

Relax-Sing with Babies and Young Children is a weekly, hourly class designed to be an enjoyable activity for you and your child to participate in together. This will be done predominantly through the medium of Indian singing.

The sessions are interactive workshops designed to promote singing as a family activity. This will include a mixture of humming, singing notes in conjunction with breathing exercises, singing lullabies and songs and sometimes may include listening to music.

Music is an enjoyable activity for children and is also very beneficial in their development. It helps with concentration, literacy and numeracy, vocabulary, mental health and enhances fine motor skills. It also inspires creativity and imagination and boosts self esteem.
